Staff Members FAQs
Q. How is compensation paid?
A. MSS will electronically transfer pay to the account designated by each staff member every two weeks on the normal pay period cycle. A summary of each pay distribution, i.e., pay, taxes, and authorized deductions will be mailed to the address designated by each staff member.
Q. How is overtime pay handled?
A. Overtime is negotiated with the employer. Usually, premium pay is paid for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Additionally, on-call and call-in rates are negotiated. A differential is negotiated for evening or night shifts.
Q. How is a license obtained for an out-of-state assignment?
A. The web site contains contact information for the Board of Nursing in every state. Contact the appropriate office for detailed information. MSS will assist in the cost of the license, either in whole or in part, depending on the individual state requirement.
Q. How are staff members notified of an assignment opportunity?
A. When a client is identified, the staff member will have a telephone interview with the client. MSS will coordinate the rest, including processing agreements between the staff member, the client and MSS. Once the agreements are completed, the staff member receives an assignment packet that contains information about the client and materials for completion. We will work closely with you in locating lodging and in making travel arrangements.
Q. When is a representative of MSS available?
A. A representative is available during office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. We are available 24-hours a day 7-days a week for emergencies.

Employer Clients FAQs
Q. What is the length of a typical assignment?
A. MSS offers flexible staffing options, including travel staffing (3-month, 6-month, 9-month, 12-month options), retained search, seasonal staffing and agency staffing.
Q. Can a staff member's original contract be extended?
A. MSS is open to requests to extend an assignment, provided the staff member is willing to stay longer.
Q. How long does it take to place a staff member?
A. MSS will target a start date with your input. The target date can range from one day to an agreed upon date with the client. We will strive to meet your needs.
Q. What is the cost of MSS services?
A. We will negotiate a specific rate for each client. Factors, in some areas, such as housing rates vary and will impact the cost of the contract.
Q. Who pays employer-related taxes?
A. The staff members placed through us are employees of MSS, and as such, we are responsible for payroll, payment of taxes, benefits and workers compensation.
Q. What constitutes a fulltime schedule?
A. Staff members are guaranteed either three 12-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts each week. Premium pay is made for overtime, on-call, and call-in coverage. Holiday arrangements are addressed in each agreement.
